This Palestinian Shatta Jam is a softer, sweeter expression of the traditional shatta flavour profile. Developed from habanero fermentation brine and roasted peppers, then finished with apple cider vinegar, it opens with sweetness and acidity before settling into fruity fermented notes, gentle smokiness, and a warm lingering finish.

Rather than being fiery, this jar sits somewhere between savoury and sweet, making it easy to pair with both everyday meals and generous grazing tables. It brings the spirit of Palestinian shatta into a more playful form, while still carrying the depth, warmth, and table-sharing quality that makes shatta so loved.

Serve it with cheese, especially toasties and halloumi, spoon it beside fried food, spread it into sandwiches, or add it to pizza for sweetness, heat, and lift. It is a distinctive condiment for anyone who enjoys flavour, depth, and warmth without overwhelming spice.

Giving back

By stocking Fil, we are supporting Palestinian-made food products that carry memory, flavour, and cultural identity through the everyday ritual of eating and sharing.

Fil was created by Palestinians to celebrate shatta as part of Palestinian food culture, family life, and the dining table, helping keep this traditional condiment visible and enjoyed by wider audiences.

At SPINDLE, a portion of proceeds is shared with marginalised communities through our ongoing partnership with human rights organisation Restless Beings. For every order placed, we also plant a tree, contributing to long-term environmental restoration.

Fil

Fil is a Palestinian-founded food brand created by Karim, Layth and Zee, two brothers and their childhood friend, who came together through a shared desire to celebrate the flavours and culture of Palestine through food.

The brand centres around shatta, a traditional Palestinian chilli condiment originating from Gaza and often found on Palestinian dining tables beside salt, pepper, and olive oil. After struggling to find fresh, high-quality shatta in Europe, they created their own, rooted in heritage while shaped for the modern pantry.

Fil’s story is one of family, friendship, memory, and community. Each jar is made to honour Palestinian food culture while bringing the warmth, spice, and nostalgia of the Palestinian table into everyday meals.
