This Bird’s Eye Shatta is Fil’s original recipe, rooted in the flavour of traditional Palestinian shatta while offering a fresh, modern expression for the everyday table. Made with red bell pepper, bird’s eye chilli, extra virgin olive oil, salt, and vinegar, it has a bright pepperiness, lively acidity, and a steady heat that builds without overpowering the food around it.
Shatta has long held a place on Palestinian dining tables, often sitting beside olive oil, salt, and bread as something to reach for, share, and return to. This version carries that same spirit of generosity and familiarity, bringing clarity, warmth, and depth to simple dishes.
Spoon it over eggs, tomatoes, pizza, grilled vegetables, sandwiches, sauces, or stews. It is savoury, balanced, and full of character, made for those who want heat with flavour rather than heat alone.
By stocking Fil, we are supporting Palestinian-made food products that carry memory, flavour, and cultural identity through the everyday ritual of eating and sharing.
Fil was created by Palestinians to celebrate shatta as part of Palestinian food culture, family life, and the dining table, helping keep this traditional condiment visible and enjoyed by wider audiences.
At SPINDLE, a portion of proceeds is shared with marginalised communities through our ongoing partnership with human rights organisation Restless Beings. For every order placed, we also plant a tree, contributing to long-term environmental restoration.
Fil is a Palestinian-founded food brand created by Karim, Layth and Zee, two brothers and their childhood friend, who came together through a shared desire to celebrate the flavours and culture of Palestine through food.
The brand centres around shatta, a traditional Palestinian chilli condiment originating from Gaza and often found on Palestinian dining tables beside salt, pepper, and olive oil. After struggling to find fresh, high-quality shatta in Europe, they created their own, rooted in heritage while shaped for the modern pantry.
Fil’s story is one of family, friendship, memory, and community. Each jar is made to honour Palestinian food culture while bringing the warmth, spice, and nostalgia of the Palestinian table into everyday meals.
We support makers and farmers near and far through fair wages and thoughtful partnerships.
We choose natural, biodegradable materials and eco-conscious or plant-based dyes where possible. While we avoid single-use plastic, we reuse any that arrives with deliveries to reduce waste.
