Yaffa is an original artwork by Tala, known as Kittaba, bringing together language, place, and one of the city’s most recognisable symbols.

The Arabic word Yaffa is written in a circular composition, surrounded by painted oranges in rich, vibrant colour. The form feels both decorative and rooted, allowing the name of the city to sit at the centre of the piece while the fruit carries the wider story around it.

Oranges hold a particular significance for Yaffa, where citrus cultivation and export became an important part of the city’s agricultural and commercial life. Over time, the orange became closely associated with Yaffa itself, carrying memories of land, trade, abundance, and home.

Together, the calligraphy and fruit create a piece that feels bright and celebratory while still holding a deeper connection to Palestinian place and memory.

This greeting card is reproduced from Tala’s original artwork and is left blank inside, giving you space to add your own message.
