Symbol of Life is an original artwork by Tala, known as Kittaba, bringing together a series of symbols closely associated with Palestine and its visual culture.

Watermelon, olive leaves, a heart, and a dove sit together across the composition, each carrying its own meaning while forming a wider story of identity, memory, and hope.

The watermelon has become a recognisable symbol of Palestinian identity, particularly because its red, black, white, and green colours mirror those of the Palestinian flag. Olive leaves speak to rootedness, land, continuity, and steadfastness, while the dove carries ideas of peace, freedom, and the hope for a different future.

Together, the symbols create a piece that feels both gentle and direct, holding connection to place while leaving room for reflection and interpretation.

This greeting card is reproduced from Tala’s original artwork and is left blank inside, giving you space to add your own message.
