Wrapped in Kalamkari fabric, this notebook brings together a textile tradition known for its detail, storytelling, and depth of process.
Kalamkari is a form of hand-painted and block-printed textile work, traditionally practised in parts of India. The name itself comes from kalam, meaning pen, and kari, meaning work, reflecting the use of hand-drawing alongside block printing. The process is slow and layered, often involving over twenty steps, where natural dyes are applied gradually to build intricate patterns and scenes.
The cover is made using fabric off-cuts, allowing smaller remnants to be used thoughtfully, while the pages inside are formed from recycled cotton, paper waste, and other natural fibres. This process avoids the use of new raw materials, giving existing materials a further life.
Designed for everyday use, the notebook holds a clean, ruled interior, making it easy to return to for notes, lists, or quiet moments of writing.
Every piece we send out carries something beyond itself.
A portion of proceeds is shared with marginalised communities through our ongoing partnership with human rights organisation Restless Beings.
For every order placed, we also plant a tree, contributing to long-term environmental restoration.
We support makers and farmers near and far through fair wages and thoughtful partnerships.
We choose natural, biodegradable materials and eco-conscious or plant-based dyes where possible. While we avoid single-use plastic, we reuse any that arrives with deliveries to reduce waste.
A percentage of every order goes to marginalised communities, and every purchase plants a tree.
