Ajrak is one of the oldest surviving textile traditions, with roots stretching back thousands of years to the Indus Valley. It is created through a detailed resist block-printing process, where patterns are built layer by layer using hand-carved wooden blocks and dyes traditionally associated with colours such as indigo and deep red.
The cover of this notebook is made using an Ajrak fabric off-cut, allowing a smaller piece of this richly patterned cloth to be used thoughtfully. Because every notebook is cut from a different section of fabric, each cover has its own pattern placement and is completely one of a kind.
Inside, the ruled pages are made from recycled cotton, paper waste and other natural fibres, avoiding the need for virgin paper and giving existing materials a further life. Each notebook is handcrafted in India using traditional bookbinding techniques and made for everyday notes, lists, journalling or quiet moments of writing.
