I am a Ful For You takes one part of our Food, Land and Rituals illustration and turns it into something playful, familiar, and made to start a conversation.

At the centre is ful, one of Sudan’s most familiar everyday dishes, shown with boiled egg and chilli. It is a food tied to routine, comfort, and gathering, often eaten communally and scooped with bread.

But ful does not stop at one border. Different versions are eaten across Sudan, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and parts of the Arabian Peninsula, each shaped by local tastes, ingredients, and ways of eating. That is exactly the kind of connection the Together Project asks us to notice: how a familiar dish can belong deeply to one place while also opening a door into the food cultures of another.

The original illustration was created by British-Bangladeshi artist Maryam Huq for our Together Project, which brings Sudan, Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Rohingya community, and Palestine together through food, land, agriculture, memory, and everyday ritual.

Across the wider project, food becomes an entry point into bigger conversations. Bread leads us to communal bakeries and daily routines. Rice connects different agricultural landscapes. Tea becomes a reason to pause and talk. A dish like ful can take us from one table to another, revealing the ingredients, habits, histories, and gestures we may share without realising it.

These cards were created in that same spirit: small conversation starters that begin with food and open into stories about people, place, migration, identity, and the land that feeds us.

For this card, SPINDLE reworked Maryam’s original Sudanese illustration into I am a Ful For You, bringing a little humour into a piece that still carries the wider thinking behind Together.
