Hand-painted in Jerusalem, this ceramic vase reflects a craft tradition shaped by Armenian master potters for over a century. Its rounded form is decorated with a bold pomegranate motif, surrounded by painted leaves and botanical details in deep red, green, yellow and black.
The pomegranate has long carried meaning across the region, often associated with abundance, life, beauty, and continuity. Here, it becomes both decoration and symbol, bringing colour and presence to a piece made to be lived with, displayed, and passed through the rhythms of the home.
Made within one of Jerusalem’s oldest Armenian ceramic studios, established in 1922, this vase sits within a lineage connected to the Armenian ceramicists who arrived in the city in the early twentieth century. Their work helped shape a ceramic language that became deeply tied to Jerusalem, blending inherited Armenian techniques with local forms, colours, and visual traditions.
No two pieces are exactly the same. Slight variations in brushwork, glaze, colour, and painted detail are part of its character, reflecting the hand of the maker and the living nature of the craft.

This piece was chosen to support meaningful, fairly paid work in Jerusalem, where wages and the costs of remaining in the city are significantly higher than in other parts of the West Bank. By purchasing from makers who continue working there, we are helping sustain local livelihoods and keep attention on the craft traditions, histories, and makers whose work continues despite pressure, imitation, and erasure.
