The Levantine Vegetarian - Recipes from the Middle East
Step into the bold, vibrant world of Middle Eastern vegetarian home cooking with 140 uplifting plant-based recipes. This cookbook is a glorious celebration of fresh, flavour-packed dishes that reflect the diversity of the Levant, weaving together traditions shaped by region, religion, and culture.
From timeless favourites like falafel, hummus, and tabbouleh, to inventive new combinations that highlight the creativity of the region, each recipe is designed to be easy to make and full of life. Think garlic-laced mezze, pittas bursting with pickles, tahini and grilled vegetables, and fragrant desserts that strike the perfect balance of sweet and spice.
The book also explores the wider culinary traditions of the Middle East, a crossroads of Africa, Asia, and Europe, bringing together recipes that tell the story of a region often called the Cradle of Civilisation. Alongside classics, you’ll find exciting ‘fusion’ dishes that reimagine familiar flavours in fresh ways.
Featured recipes include Parsnip and Cumin Beignets, Sesame Halloumi Fries with Chilli Yogurt, Black Lime and Herb Tofu, and Za’atar Cucumber Noodle Salad. Beautifully photographed, each page captures not only the dishes themselves but also the generosity, vibrancy, and communal spirit that define the Middle Eastern dining table.
