Our Purpose

Built to make a difference

Rooted in Tradition. Crafted with Purpose.

Born from long conversations and a deep-rooted respect for ancestral craftsmanship, SPINDLE was founded to preserve traditional craft techniques and uplift the people behind them.

We sat on the idea for years, but when COVID-19 exposed the exploitation of South Asian garment workers by fast fashion brands, we knew it was time. With just a few handwoven wool blankets from Morocco and cotton throws from Türkiye, we launched our website overnight, powered by purpose and fire in our bellies.

SPINDLE is now a conscious homeware and lifestyle brand rooted in heritage and built on community. We work with artisans across India, Palestine, Morocco, Türkiye, Lebanon (including Syrian and Palestinian refugees), Uganda, Syria, and England — sharing their stories, preserving their crafts, and ensuring they’re paid fairly for their work.

Every piece is handmade, biodegradable, and steeped in tradition. Because when you choose SPINDLE, you’re not just choosing beautiful things for your home, you’re choosing to honour heritage, protect livelihoods, and nurture the planet.

PEOPLE AND PLANET, ALWAYS

Every detail, every decision with the Earth and its people in mind

We believe that supporting people goes hand in hand with protecting our planet. Every piece is crafted using natural or repurposed materials, dyed with plant-based or eco-friendly colours, and packaged plastic-free. From start to finish, we work to keep our environmental footprint light and our social impact strong.

We’re proud to donate a percentage of every order to support marginalised communities through our Human Rights partner, Restless Beings. And for every sale, we plant a tree because what we take, we give back.

PURPOSEFUL PARTNERSHIPS

Supporting craftspeople with dignity, not charity

We’re not just preserving traditional crafts, we’re creating opportunities for the people who rely on them. Our artisans are paid fairly, and empowered to sustain their livelihoods with dignity and independence. Over 85% of our makers are women, many of whom are the sole earners in their homes.

These partnerships are rooted in trust, mutual respect, and a shared mission to keep generational knowledge alive.

CRAFTED ACROSS BORDERS

Handmade traditions from the hands that keep them alive

Our collections are woven, stitched, carved and painted in towns and villages where traditional craft still thrives but needs support to survive. You’ll find hand stitched kantha quilts from West Bengal, Tatreez embroidery by Palestinian refugees, mother-of-pearl inlay from Syria, and baskets made by survivors of domestic abuse and child marriage in Uganda.

Every item is a piece of someone’s story. A tradition kept alive. A small act of resistance against fast-made, forgettable things.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
Your support keeps heritage alive, livelihoods strong, and the planet in mind.
